About Martin Gilbert

Author Martin Gilbert Martin Gilbert was a British historian and biographer of Winston Churchill.

He was an honorary Fellow of Merton College, Oxford and a member of the Chilcot Inquiry into the Iraq War.

Gilbert wrote over eighty books and was the official biographer of Churchill, a position he held for over thirty years.

He also wrote biographies of other prominent figures such as John Buchan, Sir Horace Rumbold, and Sir Randolph Churchill.

He was knighted in 1995 for his service to British history.
